Rochester, N.Y.---The No. 8 Owens Community College women's soccer team tied No. 10 College of Southern Maryland 2-2 in double overtime today in a game held at Monroe Community College.

Late in the first half, Owens trailed 2-0 when they received a penalty kick opportunity. Kendyl Christian (Clay/Oregon, Ohio), however, hit the post and the ball was cleared.

Owens entered halftime down two, but the second half was a different story. Head coach Kenny Hewitt made a formation adjustment, and it paid off with two second half, regulation goals.

"The girls pushed on and dominated the second half," Hewitt said.

The first goal came when Shelby Antonacci (Lake/Perrysburg, Ohio) played a ball forward to Jordyn Wright (Riverdale/Forest, Ohio), who ran inside and put the ball in the net at 69:31 to pull Owens within one. Then, at the 80:30 mark, Antonacci crossed a ball from the left, Brittany Powell (Onsted/Onsted, Mich.) ran to the middle and lofted a 14 yard header over the goalkeeper's head to tie it up.

"The girls showed a lot of character and heart (coming back after halftime)," Hewitt said. "They stayed focused, we changed formations and it gave them belief. In overtime, we didn't stop pushing and controlled play. We were tired, but we kept going."

In the first overtime, Wright nearly won it for her team, but her shot hit the crossbar and was cleared.

"It was a great strike," Hewitt said.

Chelsie Randolph (Start/Toledo, Ohio) started in goal and played the entire game. She made eight saves for Owens.

Owens had 22 shots in the game, but 19 of them came in second half and overtime. Wright led the way with three shots on goal, while Powell, Haley Malaczewski (Central Catholic/Toledo, Ohio) and Antonacci each had two shots on goal.
