Toledo, Ohio---Haley Malaczewski (Central Catholic/Toledo, Ohio) and Jessica Kreger (Bedford/Temperance, Mich.) each scored three goals, while Lacee Ortman (Southview/Sylvania, Ohio) tied the record for assists in a game as the Owens Community College women's soccer team drilled Indiana Tech JV 9-1 at home today.

Kreger opened the game's scoring just 1:11 in as she deposited a pass from Lydia Yeager (Start/Toledo, Ohio) into the net. Just minutes later, Malaczewski scored off a rebound from a shot by Brittany Powell (Onsted/Onsted, Mich.).

Indiana Tech's Miriam Lavey then responded with her team's lone goal in the game at the 11:23 mark.

Owens, however, would add four more goals in the half. Powell passed a ball to Dominique Cruz (Northwood/Northwood, Ohio) at the 13:22 mark. It was the first career goal for the freshman.

Malaczewski added an unassisted goal in the 17th minute, Kreger scored from Malaczewski in the 19th minute and Malaczewski beat the keeper to a ball, knocked her down, and scored in the 38th minute to pick up her first collegiate hat trick.

In the second half, Owens added three goals - all assisted by Ortman. Kreger completed her hat trick with a goal in the 49th minute, Jordyn Wright (Riverdale/Forest, Ohio) scored in the 82nd minute and Kendyl Christian (Clay/Oregon, Ohio) scored in the 89th minute.

Ortman's three assists tied the program's single game record held by seven other players. The most recent player to accomplish the feat was Haley Gasser (Northview/Sylvania, Ohio) vs Cincinnati State on Sept. 18 of last season.

Malaczewski and Kreger became two of eight players in program history to score at least three goals in a game. Kendra Eitniear (Swanton/Swanton, Ohio) holds the program's record with six goals in a game (set in 2011), and the most recent player to record a hat trick was Jessica Grindle (Northwood/Northwood, Ohio), who did it twice last season.

For Malaczewski, who is tied with Shelby Antonacci (Lake/Perrysburg, Ohio) for the team-high in assists with four, today marked her first three goals of the season. She is now tied for the team-high in points (10) with Wright, who is now tied with Kreger at four with a team-high in goals this year.

Antonacci picked up the assist on the final goal of the first half by Malaczewski.

Malaczewski's seven points today also make her one of only four players in program history to achieve that feat. Grindle, who had seven against Mercyhurst North East on Sept. 8 of last season was the most recent player to do so.

Powell's two assists were her first two of the season. She was a terror to Indiana Tech throughout the game with her speed and she opened up opportunities for several goals today despite not actually getting the assist.

Ortman's three assists give her three this year, while Yeager's assist was her first of the season.

Owens is now 5-2-1 overall this year heading into Saturday's big matchup on the road against Schoolcraft at 1 p.m.
