Megan Rutherford enters her first year coaching at Owens Community College.
Coach Rutherford has coached at the high school level for 12 seasons coaching at Lake High School for 1 season in 2023 and Eastwood High School for 11 seasons from 2011-2021. While she was at Lake, the team won the “Juergen Mudrow Cup” NWOSOA Team Excellence and Sportsmanship Award for all HS girls divisions.
During her time at Eastwood, the teams overall record under Coach Rutherford was 152-45-16 (W-L-T). The team reached the DII District Championship in 2014 and reached the DIII District Championship in 2016. The team won Sectional Championships in 2013, 2014 (DII), 2015, 2016, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 (DIII). In 2018 and 2019 the team was Northern Buckeye Conference Champions and Regional Semifinalists. In 2020 and 2021, the team was NBC Champions and Regional Runner-Ups. Other notable team awards under Coach Rutherford include the Team Ethics Award of Merit - Gold Certificate in 2020, the NWO District Team Sportsmanship Award by the NWOSSCA for DIII girls in 2020, and the “Juergen Mudrow Cup” NWOSOA Team Excellence and Sportsmanship Award for all HS girls divisions in 2021.
Coach Rutherford was awarded NWO District DIII Coach of the Year in 2018 and 2019. Coach Rutherford was also awarded the Ohio DIII Coach of the Year in 2019 and the United Soccer Coaches Ohio High School Coach of the Year Small School Division in 2019.
Coach Rutherford has also coached at the club level since 2022 at GTFC Impact. She currently holds a National D License along with numerous United Soccer Coaches Special Topics Diplomas.
Prior to that, Megan was a member of the women’s soccer team at The University of Findlay for four years while double majoring in AYA (7-12) Integrated Mathematics Education and Pure Mathematics. Coach Rutherford resides in Haskins, Ohio with her husband and their two sons.
