Whitaker joined Owens in 2021 after 19 years of Administrative and Head Softball coaching positions at the 4-year collegiate level. She has served as Athletic Director, Associate Athletic Director, Senior Woman Administrator, Assistant Athletic Director, Sports Information Director and has worked at institutions in OH, GA, IL, CA, NY and most recently Portland, OR. Whitaker has been directly responsible for all aspects of conducting collegiate athletics departments including budgets, fundraising, personnel, compliance, Title IX investigations, recruiting, policies and procedures among other duties. In 2014 she was named Employee of the Year. Her vision incorporates excellence in academics, athletics and community.

In 2022 Whitaker was voted Athletic Director of the Year for the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference. Since then Express Athletics has captured National Championships in volleyball and women's basketball and record seasons in baseball. Womens soccer made its debut back as a sport offering in the fall of 2023 and mens soccer will re-emerge in the fall of 2024. 

During her coaching span she produced 30 1st-Team, 10 2nd-Team and 9 Honorable-Mention All-Conference players along with 2 All-American, 2 Honorable-Mention, 12 All-Region selections and 2 Players of the Year. Her teams also excelled in the classroom with 74 Academic All-Conference, 33 Academic All-Americans and team grade point averages as high ranking as 5th in the nation. She was voted Coach of the Year in 2019 while capturing the school's first NCAA DII Conference title and making its inaugural trip to NCAA regionals.

Whitaker holds a Master's degree from Muskingum University and double major/minors from the University of Rio Grande (OH) where she was a scholarship student-athlete. Whitaker resides in her hometown of Oak Harbor.
