In the 1998-99 season, Pivoriunas was named OCCAC coach of the year after guiding the Express to a 30-22 record, including a first-place finish in the OCCAC. In the postseason, the Express won the Region XII championship by defeating Columbus State, but fell to Joliet (Ill.) Junior College in the District B championship.

Pivoriunas coached at Delta High School for 12 years, as well as 13 years at Eastwood High School, compiling a 315-190 record. He is also a part-time academic advisor at Owens and a guidance counselor at Eastwood.
