2012: Legate hit .229 in 29 appearances as a freshman, while starting 26 of those contests. He added two runs, three doubles, nine walks and eight RBIs.

Prior to Owens: Legate was a two-sport athlete at Strongsville in baseball and football. As a senior, he was named First Team All-NOC in baseball and led his team to a 20-2 season that ended in a trip to the regional finals. He finished with a .408 batting average and 16 RBIs. Additionally, he was named to the Sun Sports All-Star team and the Post Sports All-Star Team. As a junior, Legate helped lead his team to to a district championship.

Personal: Austin is the son of David and Holly Legate. He has two siblings - Lauren and Brenna.
