The Express baseball season is underway!
The Express baseball season is underway! The baseball team started with a trip down to Franklin Virginia to play 4 games on Friday and Saturday. The Express finished the weekend 2-2 with wins over Monroe College and Virginia Peninsula CC. This is the earliest the Owens baseball team has ever started a season. "I think it is important to get some games in before we head to Florida" stated Coach P.

Day 1
Game 1 and 2 began at Camp Community College. Camp Community College finished 8th nationally in 2023 which set the Express up for a great challenge to start the year. The Express looked very strong and competitive in both games but the team lost 7-5 and 3-0 respectively.

Day 2
Game 3 was the morning game against Monroe College out of NY. Monroe jumped out in front in the 3rd inning with 3-run HR. After that, the team settled in and rallied for 7 unanswered runs and won the game 9-4. Earning the team their first win of the year. This was a monumental win for Coach P, as this was his 200th career victory as the Owens Head Baseball Coach. Game 4 was against Virginia Peninsula CC and this was a slugfest. The final score was 19-14 with the Express coming out victorious. The express recorded 19 hits with 7 players having multiple hits in the contest. This was a great way to end the short trip to Virginia.

Up next, the Express will be in action March 1st in sunny Florida where they face off against Dakota County Technical College.
