Nelson Menendez will head into his fourth season as an assistant with the Owens Express Baseball program in 2022-23.

With the aid of Menendez, the Owens baseball program advanced to the NJCAA Division-III Baseball World Series in 2020-21. The Express tallied a 35-15 record which tied for the second-most wins in a single season in program history.

The 2019-20 season, Menendez's first with the team, saw high hopes for the Express, but was cut short after just four games after a 3-1 start to the season.

Prior to Owens, Menendez compiled over 15 years of coaching experience at the high school level, including 15 as a high school coach all over the state of Florida. In that time, he won five district titles and appeared in one state semifinal as well.

He coached a Lenawee Christian High School for a season and he coached two seasons in Indiana at Clinton Central High School.

Over his time as a coach, Menendez has coached nine players who have been drafted in the Major League Baseball Draft.

Menendez played collegiately at Florida Southern College in Lakeland, FL and he played high school baseball at Jesuit High School in Tampa, FL.

Menendez has one son named Alex, who also coaches baseball. He is an assistant at Trinity Catholic in Ocala, Florida.
