Jim Welling begins his 13th year as head basketball coach at Owens Community College, bringing a 320-81 (.80%) record into the 1998-99 season.  He has led the Express to many notable achievements including two NJCAA Division II National Championships ('92, '93), four Great Lakes Region XII Championships ('92, '93, '94, '96), six OCCAC Conference Championships ('91, '92, '93, '94, '96, '97) and six OCCAC State Tournament Championships ('90, '92, '93, '94, '96, '97).  Welling has been named "Coach of the Year" four times by the OCCAC, four times by Region XII and twice by the NJCAA Division II.  Last season, he celebrated his 300th win.  He is a 1980 Owens Community College graduate and received his bachelor of arts degree from the University of Toledo.  He also is the Selective Health Admissions Coordinator for Owens Community College.
