Gill Earns Fifth OCCAC Player of the Week Award

Toledo, Ohio---Bikramjit Gill (Our Ascension of the Lord/Toronto, Ontario, Canada) is now the back-to-back Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) Player of the Week in men's basketball.

The sophomore forward averaged 24.5 points, 14 rebounds, three blocks, 1.5 steals and 1.5 assists in wins over Cuyahoga Community College and Sinclair Community College.

On Wednesday, Gill poured in 29 points while adding 13 rebounds, three blocks, two assists and one steal in an 87-72 win over Cuyahoga. He finished 11-for-16 from the field (1-for-2 from 3-point range) and 6-for-7 from the foul line.

On Saturday, Gill had 20 points, 15 rebounds, three blocks, two steals and one assist in a 104-99 win over Sinclair. He finished 7-for-13 from the field and 6-for-7 from the foul line.

Gill closed out the conference season with averages of 19 points, 13 rebounds, 3.2 blocks and 1.9 steals per game. He finished third in the conference in scoring, first in rebounding, first in blocks and eighth in steals.

The No. 10 Express men's basketball team is 24-5 overall this year and finished 11-1 in OCCAC play. They earned a share of the OCCAC championship with No. 1 Cincinnati State Technical and Community College. It is the program's first regular season conference championship since 2001-02.

Gill and the Express will be in Circleville, Ohio this weekend for the Region XII District 11 tournament. The Express, who got the No. 2 seed via a coin flip tiebreaker with Cincinnati State, will play No. 3 seed Sinclair Community College at 8 p.m. on Friday in the semifinals. The tournament is being held at Ohio Christian University, and the Express are the defending champion.

Notes

This is the fifth time Gill has won OCCAC men's basketball player of the week honors this season, and it is the second time he has won it back-to-back. He previously won it on Dec. 8, Jan. 19, Jan. 26 and Feb. 23.

This past week marked the final OCCAC player of the week voting this season.
