Toledo, Ohio---DeVondre Peoples has signed with Berea College, an NAIA school in Kentucky, to become the fifth Owens men's basketball sophomore to sign with a four-year school.

Peoples averaged 3.3 points and 3.9 rebounds per game last year in his only season with the program. While playing in 24 games (three starts), he also posed a threat defensively with five games of at least two blocks and posted 11 games of at least five rebounds.

Peoples transferred to Owens from the University of Mobile in Alabama. He prepped at Consortium College Prep in Detroit, Mich.

Berea College finished 16-14 last year and advanced to the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (KIAC) tournament semifinals.

The Owens men's basketball program finished 25-6 overall this past year, including an 11-1 record in conference play. The team captured the program's first conference championship since 2002-03 and advanced to the district championship game before falling to No. 1 Cincinnati State at the buzzer.
