Toledo, Ohio---Derrik Jamerson Jr. (Cornerstone/Pontiac, Mich.), a sophomore guard on the Owens Community College men's basketball team, has been named the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) Division II player of the week.

Jamerson averaged 26 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, two blocks and 1.5 steals over a two-game stretch last week. In his team's 72-54 loss to No. 4 Cuyahoga Community College, he had 12 points, five rebounds, two steals, two blocks and one assist. He followed that up with a career-high 40 points, eight rebounds, four assists, two blocks, one assist and one steal in a 127-74 win over Hocking College on Saturday.

In the win over Hocking, Jamerson finished 12-for-18 from 3-point range. Both of those totals broke the program's single game records. He already owns the career 3-point shooting records for most attempts and most makes, and he has a chance at both single season records. 

Following his big week, Jamerson is now averaging 16.1 points, 6.7 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.1 blocks per game. The team's leading scorer and NCAA Division I Norfolk State signee is also averaging 14.9 points, 6.9 rebounds, 1.9 steals, 1.8 assists and 1.8 blocks per game in conference play.

Nationally, Jamerson is 14th in 3-point field goal percentage at 49.7 percent and fifth in 3-point field goals made with 86.

Jamerson and Owens will be back in action on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. against Lorain County Community College on the road.

NOTES

This is Jamerson's second OCCAC award of the season and the third of his career. He also won on Jan. 1 of this year and Dec. 6 of last season.
