Prior to Owens: Michalak comes to Owens after a decorated career at Springfield, where she helped lead the Blue Devils to a Northern Lakes League title her sophomore and junior year, a district championship her sophomore and senior year, and a regional championship her senior year for coach Rob Gwozdz. While also participating in cheerleading, Michalak was named First Team All-District, First Team All-Northern Lakes League and team MVP her senior year, First Team All-Ohio, First Team All-District and Coaches Award recipient her junior year, and First Team All-District, First Team All-NLL her sophomore year. As a freshman, Michalak was named Second Team All-District and Second Team All-NLL. She lists winning regionals and pitching in the Ohio state final four as her greatest personal sports thrill.

Personal: Ashlyn is the daughter of James Michalak and Robin Deibis. Her mother was an athlete in softball and cheerleading at Eckerd College. She is a pre-physical therapy transfer major at Owens.
