2009-10: Whitacre is one of the top returning players for the Express after she won several honors for her work on and off the field last season, including 2010 Ohio Community College Athletic Conference Player of the Year, All-OCCAC and All-Academic OCCAC honors. She played in 38 games last season, while accumulating 30 hits, nine doubles, one triple, 12 RBIs, 15 walks, 25 runs and two home runs in 112 at bats. She finished with a .268 batting average and .338 on-base percentage, while tying for second on the team with 12 steals in 17 attempts. Whitacre tripled in her first collegiate at-bat last season, which she lists as her greatest personal sports thrill.

Prior to Owens: Whitacre was a three-time (2007-09) Second Team All-Toledo City League player at Central Catholic. She also won the 2009 CYO High School Athlete Award, was a member of the National Honor Society and was named to the 2009 Academic All-City League team. She played for coach Norm Kujawa.

Personal: Ashleigh is the daughter of Roger and Julie Whitacre. She is a middle childhood education transfer major at Owens.
