Michael Murphy begins his sixth year with the Owens softball program. His previous coaching experience includes serving as an assistant coach at various levels. From 1998-2005, Murphy served as an assistant coach for the Sylvania Sharks travel summer team. In addition to his coaching responsibilities, he was a member of the organization's board of trustees for four years. Among the group's many governing responsibilities included the coordinator of local softball tournaments in Sylvania. In additon to his Sylvania Sharks coaching experience, Murphy was an assistant coach for freshmen, JV and varsity softball at Sylvania Southview High School from 2001-05.

Murphy previously worked at Electric Industry for 37 years before retiring. The Woodward High School graduate resides in Toledo.
