MYRTLE BEACH, SC--- Ashlyn Michalak (Springfield/Temperance, Mich.) and Kristen Roznoski (Cardinal Stritch/Toledo, Ohio) propelled the Express softball team today in wins over Olney Central College, 5-4, and the Community College of Beaver County, 12-0.

Game 1:
Down 4-3 after six and a half innings, the Express capped off a seventh inning rally with a two RBI double by Roznoski, which plated Matea Rice (Clay/Oregon, Ohio) and Courtney Mowery (Genoa/Genoa, Ohio).

Rice and Mowery had led off with singles, a sacrifice by Annie DeTray (Oak Harbor/Oak Harbor, Ohio) moved them over, Michelle Hollister (Airport/Newport, Mich.) was walked to load the bases, and then Roznoski lined her double to left center.

Kasey Graham (Clay/Oregon, Ohio) got the win in relief. The freshman (2-0) relieved starter Elizabeth Weber (Oak Harbor/Elmore, Ohio) after the leadoff runner reached in the top of the seventh.

Weber allowed five runs, seven hits, two walks and struck out nine over her six plus innings. Graham faced five batters and allowed two hits while striking out one before the Express walk-off.

Owens opened the game's scoring with three runs in the top of the first on a single by Roznoski, sacrifice bunts by Ashleigh Whitacre (Central Catholic/Toledo, Ohio) and Lindsey Bandeen (Springfield/Holland, Ohio), and a suicide squeeze by Bridget Wolfe (Bellevue/Bellevue, Ohio).

Olney Central scored single runs in the second, and fifth through seventh innings. Owens did not have any batters strike out and only walked twice.

Game 2:
Michalak was the story of the second game as she tossed a perfect game in her college debut to defeat Beaver County 12-0.

Of the 15 batters she faced, Michalak fanned 10 of them. The other five didn't even reach the outfield as she forced three pop ups and two ground outs.

Alaina Haubert (Gibsonburg/Gibsonburg, Ohio) led a balanced offensive attack for the Express, while going 3-3 with a double, two runs, and an RBI. Bandeen went 3-4 with a run and an RBI, and Allison Hausch went 2-3 with a run and two RBIs.

"We just hit solid the whole game," said Owens head coach Duane Lanham.

Freshman Hallie Thompson (Clay/Oregon, Ohio) saw her first action of the season outside of pinch running in the game. She had a single, double, two runs, two RBIs and was hit by a pitch.

Owens (6-0) is next scheduled to take on the Community College of Beaver County and Sauk Valley Community College tomorrow beginning at 9 a.m.
