Columbus, Ohio---Melanie Iacoangeli (Ida/Monroe, Mich.) is now a member of the softball program at The Ohio State University.

The speedster, who graduated from Owens Community College last year, has seen action in six games with the Buckeyes after joining the team late. Primarily seeing action as a pinch runner, she has scored one run so far.

While at Owens, Iacoangeli hit .433 with 49 stolen bases as a sophomore in 2013. Prior to that, she hit .538 with 66 stolen bases as a freshman. She left the program as the career leader in stolen bases with 115. Academically, she earned a 3.86 cumulative GPA and was awarded with Superior Academic Achievement honors by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).

Her addition to the Buckeyes gives last year's Owens softball team four NCAA Division I players. Joining her, already on their respective teams, are Katie Turski (2013, Bowling Green State University), Mareshah Scott (2012-13, University of Toledo) and Olivia Reeder (2012-13, University of Toledo).
