Toledo, Ohio---Courtney Cadle, a 5-6 shortstop from Monroe High School in Monroe, Mich., has signed a letter of intent to play softball at Owens Community College next year.

Cadle is a two-time Academic All-Michigan selection and earned All-Region honors as a junior. Away from softball, she has won championships in drag racing. Furthermore, she is an A/B honor roll student at Monroe.

"We are very happy to add Courtney to the Express family," said Owens Community College head softball coach Marcus Smith. "We have had a long list of good shortstops, and she will add to that list. She will help solidify our middle infield and adds a hot bat to the lineup. Her leadership will be key, though. She's a solid all-around player."

Cadle becomes the second member of the 2016-17 Owens softball recruiting class. She joins Noel Gilley (RHP/1B) of Ashley Ridge High School in Summerville, S.C. We'll be posting signing stories at OwensExpress.com for every student-athlete in the class in the coming days.

The Owens softball team, which captured Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) and Region XII championships last year en route to a National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II National Tournament appearance, will open its 2016 season March 4-13 in Florida. They are scheduled to play 20 games during the trip.
