TOLEDO, Ohio ---

The Owens Express Athletic Department has announced the appointment of Ben Reindel as head women's softball coach. Reindel brings a wealth of experience and success to the program, having previously served at multiple levels including DI and NJCAA throughout his career.

Most recently, Reindel served as assistant coach at the University of Houston. Here Reindel implemented new hitting initiatives, technology, offensive analysis and analytics. As a result, the Cougars improved in every offensive statistic. Two players, Turiya Coleman and Bree Cantu, earned 1st Team American Conference selections. Coleman also received NFCA Second Team Region honors and finished the 2023 season with the highest on-base percentage in school history.

Prior to his tenure at the University of Houston, Reindel served as the Head Baseball Coach at Green River College in Auburn, Washington. He took over a program that had not won a single game and led them to achieve double-digit wins in his first full season. This marked the program's first double-digit winning season in eight years.

Reindel spent four seasons as the Head Softball Coach at Shoreline Community College. Under his leadership, the program achieved a top 10 RPI ranking within just 16 months. Reindel coached several award-winning players during his time at Shoreline, including Sarah Casel, who received an offer from Oregon State, and Kacey Hvitved, who went on to play at Ole Miss and Fresno State.

Reindel also gained coaching experience at Seattle University, where he worked as an assistant coach. His responsibilities included working with infielders, hitters, recruiting, scouting, and monitoring academic progress. Reindel played a crucial role in the development of freshman Alyson Matriotti, who became an All-WAC First Team Third Baseman after transitioning from outfielder to third base with Reindel's guidance.

Reindel holds a B.S. in Social Science from Central Washington University. He also possesses a PX2® Facilitator Certificate from The Pacific Institute, which equips individuals with effective thinking skills, promotes positive communication, and builds stronger relationships.
