Shyah Wheeler Named to NJCAA All-American Team, Ferrell Named All-OCCAC Honorable Mention

Toledo, OH -- For the second straight season, Owens Women's Basketball player, Shyah Wheeler, has made her way on to an NJCAA All-American Team. 

Wheeler was named to the NJCAA All-American Third Team earlier this week. The Elida, OH native was also named as an All-OCCAC First Team member this offseason as well. 

Wheeler averaged 19.6 ppg, 8.9 rebounds, 2.3 steals, 2.0 blocks and 1.8 assists during her sophomore campaign.

Wheeler was named an Honorable Mention All-American a year ago by the NJCAA. She averaged 17.2 points a game this season and was third on the team in rebounds at 7.2 a game a year ago. 

Notes:

- Jaelin Ferrell was also named an All-OCCAC Honorable Mention. Ferrell finished as the team's leading scorer at 17.2 points per contest. He topped the 1,000 point mark during his career this season as well. Ferrell broke a school record this season this past weekend, when he became the school's all time leader in three points made in a season.
