Express Basketball Program Players Earn OCCAC Season Honors

TOLEDO, Ohio ---

The Owens Express Basketball Programs are back and ecstatic to share some honorable achievements from six players on the Men and Women's 2022 / 2023 Basketball programs.

To start, our Express men's basketball team have had mixed success this season, finishing with a record of 7-18 overall, they finished their season strong with a few significant conference wins. Despite the men's team's record, there were standout players who won honorable recognition for their dedication, to our men's program throughout the season. Sam Travis, Amir Dallas, and Deveyous Terrell are among those players who have contributed greatly to the team achievements this season.

Sam Travis has been awarded the 2022/ 2023 OCCAC Sportsmanship Team award.

In addition, Amir Dallas has been recognized in the 2022-2023 men's basketball DIII All-Region award, earning the 1st team winner accolade.

Finally, Deveyous Terrell has earned second place for Player of the Year. 

In celebration alongside, the women's team has been dominant this season, with an outstanding record of 19-5 overall. Their success has earned them a spot in the National Championship and they are riding the Express Train to Rochester, MN to compete in the 2022-23 NJCAA DIII Women's Basketball Championship on March 15th - 18th 2023.

While the overall achievement of a winning season was the main highlight of the 2022 - 2023 season  impressive win-loss record, which saw them finish at the top of their division; Three players stood out as a whole to the team's devotion and perseverance.

Congratulations to Malorie Schroeder, Hayley St. John, and Brooklyn Green who greatly stood out this season with honorable mentions from OCCAC Honors.

Malorie Schroeder and Hayley St. John, have been awarded the OCCAC 1st Team All-Conference award.

Brooklyn Green has been awarded the Sportsmanship Award of the year for her excellent display of sportsmanship throughout the season.

 Malorie Schroeder, 22 has been named the official Division Three 2022-2023 Player of the Year! With impressive statistics such as a 31 percent goal point percentage, an average of 10 points per game, 42 percent at the field goal line, 32 percent from the 3-point shot, and 8 rebounds per game. These statistics are a testament to her hard work, dedication, and talent.

 

The Express women's basketball team has great upcoming endeavors to look forward to as they prepare for the national championship in Rochester, MN. The team overcame challenging competition in their conference this season, and their achievements has paid off in a way where they are a shining example of what can be achieved through devotion and teamwork at the collegiate level.
