Meinke's season-best production leads No. 2 Owens past Lakeland in straight sets

TOLEDO, Ohio --- The No. 2 Owens Community College volleyball team pushed its set-winning streak to nine straight with a 25-12, 25-14, 25-12 win over Lakeland Community College on the road last night.

The win vaults the Express to 17-6 overall, including a 6-1 record in the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC). The team remains in a firm hold of second place, just one game behind Terra State and two ahead of Edison State.

On Wednesday, Sydnie Meinke led the Red and White with season-highs in kills (10) and aces (5). The Oregon, Ohio native added seven digs while hitting .526. Offensively, the trio of Maddie White (9), Ashley Scott (7) and Adalia Pasch (7) each totaled at least seven kills.

White (Ottawa, Ohio/Ottawa-Glandorf HS) added a match-high 14 digs along with three aces and two assists. She also tied Alexis Sarvo with a match-high three blocks while producing her eighth match with at least 10 digs this year. Sarvo (Swanton, Ohio/Swanton HS) chipped in five kills and three digs.

Emily Fallis (Toledo, Ohio/Southview HS) led all players with 19 assists. Carol Lutz (Curtice, Ohio/Genoa HS) finished second with nine, while Jessica Dohm (Swanton, Ohio/Swanton HS) had four.

Owens will be back in action on the road Saturday at 1 p.m. against Hocking College.

Schedule Notes

The previously rescheduled match against Edison State will now take place on Tuesday at 6 p.m. in Piqua. The Express will return home three days later to host Lorain County at 6 p.m.
