Toledo, Ohio---Erika Angstmann (St. Mary's Memorial/St. Mary's, Ohio) had 13 kills and hit .765 to lead the No. 5 Owens Community College volleyball team past Sinclair Community College 25-11, 25-16, 25-21 in the Student Health and Activities Center (SHAC) tonight.

The win gives Owens a 12-2 overall record, including a 4-0 mark in Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) play. They will be back in action tomorrow at 12 p.m. in the SHAC against conference rival Cincinnati State Technical and Community College.

Angstmann produced six of her team's 16 kills in the first set. As a team, Owens hit .519 during that stretch, while getting six assists from Carrigan Gray (Liberty-Benton/Findlay, Ohio) and four digs from Brooke Gyori (Clay/Oregon, Ohio). Tyanna Smith (Bowling Green/Bowling Green, Ohio) had a team-high two blocks. The set saw Owens score the first four points before leading by as many as 14.

In the second set, which Owens had to come from behind to win, Devon Heitkamp (New Bremen/New Bremen, Ohio) led the team with four kills, while Gray (8) and Tylutki (6) combined for all 14 of the team's assists. Christine Tylutki (Monroe/Monroe, Mich.) (7) and Gyori (6) also combined for 13 of the team's 23 digs.

Angstmann totaled five more kills in the third set as Owens won a hard fought set by hitting .421. Gray had six assists, and Gyori had four digs.

Overall, Angstmann finished just two kills shy of her season-high. She did set a new season-high for hitting percentage, though. It was her sixth match this year with double digit kills, too. Tylutki and Ashley Pleiman (Fort Loramie/Fort Loramie, Ohio) each added six kills, and the team finished with a .432 hitting percentage.

Gray totaled 20 assists, which was the seventh time she reached 20 or more this season, and she also totaled five digs. She has reached that mark 10 times this year. Meanwhile, Gyori led the team with 14 digs to bump her career total to 1,127. She also led the team with three aces.

Tylutki finished second on the team in digs with 11, while Smith led the team in blocks with three.

Notes

Tonight's .432 team hitting percentage was the second highest match of the season behind the .493 the team put up against McHenry County on Sept. 2. Owens did set a season-high with 55 assists tonight, though.

Owens has now won eight straight matches dating back to the match against McHenry County. They improved their all-time record against Sinclair to 46-6.
